Midday on Day 612
Kevin is at the dock checking the lines, while Jenny is in the woods gathering materials.
Kevin checked the generator fuel and secured the west shutter with a batten, but his efforts to verify the Yanmar's vibration fix were interrupted by the supply boat's absence on the radio. Jenny gathered dry screw pine branches in the woods and spotted the waterlogged crate still wedged in the rocks near the dock line, confirming its position for recovery at the next low tide.
You walk the length of the dock, checking the tension on the new bolts. The tide is receding quickly, exposing more of the barnacled rocks below.
Kevin — walk back along the dock toward the cottage, hand on the rail, eyes on the horizon

You move slowly through the brush, looking for fallen branches that haven't soaked up moisture. The heat is starting to make every step a struggle for your ankle.
Just one more branch, Jenny. Just one.
