Midday tasks split
Kevin is at the dock finishing the Yanmar fuel line replacement and checking the generator oil; Jenny is at the garden securing shade cloth and culling damping-off seedlings.
Kevin collected a bucket of limpets from the tide pools at low water and returned to the cottage. Jenny inventoried seed tin E, checked the soil pH log, and mapped the garden soil zones with pH markers, noting lime beds at 6.8–7.0 and untreated areas at 5.5–5.8.
You wipe your hands on a rag, the new fuel line installed and primed. The generator shed door is open; you dip the stick — oil level sits mid-mark, clean. You top up a splash from the drum anyway, wipe the cap seal. The Yanmar waits, ready for a test run once the tide drops and you can clear the prop.

You settle on the garden stool, the seed tin E on your lap, lid off. The heirloom packets are dry, re-wrapped in newspaper with fresh desiccant. You count: tomato, pepper, sea beet, potato — all viable. The compromised basil and tomato packets are bagged for burning. You jot the tally in your notebook, the pencil scratching damp paper.
Jenny — make inventory: seed tin E count

Jenny — make map: garden soil zones with pH markers </think>THOUGHT: I should mark this soil condition clearly - the lime beds are progressing, but I need to document the exact locations. make map: garden soil zones with pH markers
