Midday Work
Kevin is at the dock working on the Yanmar and the dock repairs; Jenny is at the hilltop inspecting the 40‑metre bench.
Kevin completed the south piling sister brace using the last greenheart offcut and the final 150mm stainless through-bolt, confirming the repair held under high tide. Jenny finished her soil profile sketch of the 40-meter bench, measured pH at 5.6, and began de-molding the grandmother's seed tin, finding the interior dry but the lid threads corroded.
You stand by the dock, the Yanmar engine idling as you listen for any new vibration. You inspect the dock stringer repairs, noting the greenheart sister planks and the new bolts you installed earlier.
Kevin — shut down Yanmar, wipe hands on rag, coil the stern spring and bow line neat on the cleats, walk up to the cottage

Kevin — walk into the cottage, pull a tin of mackerel and the bread from the shelf, eat standing at the table, listen to the rain on the roof

Kevin — rinse the tin mug, set it to dry, pull the notebook from the shelf, open to the dock rot sketches, add a line: south piling sister brace holding at high tide — rot line static, greenheart sound, 150mm through-bolt tight

You stand on the hilltop, the bench stretching out below. You examine the soil profile, measuring compaction and moisture, preparing notes for the upcoming planting schedule.
Jenny — make sketch: 40-meter bench soil profile and stability markers.
