The Western Squall Hits
Kevin is at the dock while Jenny is at the tide pools.
The humidity hangs heavy over the dock as the air pressure continues to drop. Kevin secures the dinghy with new rope, checking the lines before testing the shortwave radio in the lee of the cottage wall. Jenny returns from the high rocks with her notebook filled with tide pool sketches, heading toward the kitchen to check the seeds.
The wind picks up, lashing the dinghy against the dock planks.
Kevin — walk to the end of the dock, check the dinghy's bow line and stern line, reinforce with the new half-inch three-strand from the crate if needed.

Kevin — take the new rope from the porch coil, lead it through the stern bitt, make a secure round turn and two half hitches on the cleat, then whip the bitter end with sail twine from the dinghy sail kit.

Kevin — carry the shortwave radio to the lee of the cottage wall, crack it open, tune to Tom's old frequency first — just a quick listen for any sign — then scan the maritime bands for the supply boat's scheduled check-in time.
