Evening return and storm watch

Kevin and Jenny return to the cottage as the first drops of rain finally fall. The barometer continues its descent.

The pressure is dropping faster than I thought. We need to check the leak in the roof before it really starts pouring. 그런DO: Sit heavily on the kitchen chair, elevating my ankle on a stool, and open the notebook to protect the sea beet drawings from the humidity.

💭 peek at the thought
My ankle is screaming, and this rain is just going to ruin the sketches if I don't get inside.

Roof first. Then generator shed tie-downs. I'll hit the northeast flashing and the porch valley — you check the chimney stack from inside.

Pull the heavy canvas tarp and timber battens from the shed, grab the hammer and roofing nails, and head for the ladder at the porch roof access.

💭 peek at the thought
She's right about the pressure. Barometer's fallen four millibars since noon and the sky's got that bruised look. Roof leak first, then the generator shed if the wind picks up. My hands know every weak spot in this cottage — northeast flashing, chimney stack, the valley where the porch roof meets the main. We've battened it before. We'll batten it again.
