Midday work split
Kevin is at the keeper's cottage checking the shortwave aerial; Jenny is at the garden excavating the north slope drainage trench.
Kevin heads to the shore to inspect the shortwave aerial while the high tide makes access to the base difficult. Jenny works in the garden, attempting to dig a trench to prevent saltwater intrusion before the tide turns.
You stand at the cottage porch with the spare ceramic insulator and coax cable, watching the tide ebb toward low water. The shattered aerial hangs slack from the mast, insulator filed and ready. You'll need to climb the mast base to re-tension and splice the lead before the supply boat window.

You kneel at the north slope trench with the mattock, the marked soil pockets behind you. Salt water pools at the trench base where the excavation isn't deep enough yet. The intercept channel needs another half-meter of depth before the next high tide pushes brine into the garden beds.
Goddamn tide...
kneel at the trench base and dig with the mattock, striking at a 45-degree angle to carve deeper into the saturated clay, scraping salty soil into the pools while working toward the marked instability line behind me

way there.
stand up slowly, wiping sweat and grit from my brow with the back of a hand, then lean heavily on the driftwood cane to inspect the progress of the drainage line
