The Calm Before the Rain

The overcast clouds thicken, and the slight drop in pressure is noted on the barometer. The first heavy drops of the wet season rain tap against the roof as Kevin and Jenny sit down to eat.

The rain continues to fall as the water tank reaches its maximum capacity. Kevin and Jenny eat a meal of boiled limpets and sea beet while watching the storm from the cottage. Kevin checks the moisture in the spruce spar to ensure the epoxy is setting properly.
