The Rising Tide

Kevin and Jenny stand on the damp dock planks as the sky thickens over the water. Kevin examines the egg-shaped holes where the mooring ring sat while Jenny watches the falling pressure on the barometer.

The sky thickens to a bruised purple as the pressure drops. The tide is surging in, pulling hard at the dinghy against the mooring line. Kevin works on the dock to reinforce the ring before the boat pulls away, while Jenny watches the horizon, concerned about the approaching storm and rising water.
