Midday meal and supply boat watch
Kevin is at the dock beside the dinghy with the tested Yanmar; Jenny is at the keeper's cottage with coffee brewing.
Kevin disposed of the dead rat and reset the pantry trap with fresh bait, then returned to the dock to begin replacing the three rotted planks. Jenny examined the heirloom seed tin, found the packets damp but viable, and began sorting them by viability while noting the damping-off in the pepper and lettuce trays.
You coil the painter neatly on the cleat and run a hand along the new stern line splice, feeling the serve hold. The supply boat is due tomorrow; you scan the horizon anyway, shading your eyes against the clean light.

You pour the coffee black into two enamel mugs and set them on the table with the last of the corned beef and a fork. The barometer on the wall still reads 1020, steady. You sit and wait for Kevin to come up from the dock.
Jenny — pick up a pencil and start sketching the way the light is hitting the salt spray on the porch railing.
