The Rising Squall
The air grows even heavier as the barometer begins to drop further. The double tarp is now straining violently, and the smell of salt increases over the garden wall.
Kevin and Jenny secured the garden tarp against the wind using basalt stones and twine. Kevin held the windward corner while Jenny fetched stones from the cottage. After she returned, they weighted the tarp down together, preventing it from tearing free.
Kevin! The wind is taking the edge of the tarp!
Run to the cottage to grab the heavy stones and extra twine.

Stones and twine — good. Toss them over when you're close.
keep holding the tarp corner firm, shoulders burning, eyes on Jenny's approach, ready to guide the stones onto the fabric as soon as she's in range.

Got 'em. Laying them on now.
drop to one knee, shove the first basalt stone onto the tarp corner where the grommet's straining, then the second, third, fourth — pinning the hem down hard against the soil.
