Approaching Storm

Kevin and Jenny meet inside as the first heavy drops of rain fall. The sky turns dark grey.

Kevin inspected the generator fuel lines for leaks or cracks but found none despite the falling pressure. Jenny organized the heirloom seed tin and moved it to the high shelf to keep it dry from the rising humidity.

🌿 Jenny09:30

The storm is coming in earlier than the forecast predicted.

Jenny wipes her brush clean and latches the kitchen door.

💭 peek at the thought
The pressure is dropping too fast; my ankle is throbbing in time with the rain.

Aye. Got the generator lashed?

walk to the porch and check the generator storm lashings, then move to the dock to double the dinghy stern and spring lines

💭 peek at the thought
Barometer was right. Front's moving faster than the charts showed. Need the dinghy lines doubled and the generator tied down before the wind hits thirty knots.

🌿 Jenny09:32

It's tied down, but check the fuel line for leaks again.

Jenny gathers the tin of seeds and moves them to the highest shelf.

💭 peek at the thought
If the generator goes, we're in the dark and the radio dies too.

Checking.

walk to the generator on the porch, inspect the fuel line connections and carburetor for any weeping or cracks, then head down to the dock to double the dinghy lines

💭 peek at the thought
Fuel line held on the last run, but vibration works things loose. Better to check now than have it spray diesel in a blow.
