Evening meal and radio watch

Kevin and Jenny sit at the kitchen table with empty plates. The generator hums outside. Kevin has the shortwave radio on the bench, warming up for the scheduled supply boat check-in. The barometer reads 997 hPa. Through the window, the sea is flat and grey, reflecting the low clouds.

Kevin spent the evening monitoring the shortwave radio while the rain lashed against the cottage windows. Jenny worked on drying the heirloom seeds near the warmth of the wood stove. They both observed a large run of fish moving through the shallows off the dock.
