The Turning Tide
The low water begins to creep back toward the rocks, threatening the area where the spruce trunk is partially grounded.
Kevin hauled the spruce trunk onto the grass above the high-water mark using the come-along, securing it beside the garden wall as the tide surged past the dock. Jenny retreated to higher ground, clutching her notebook, and watched the rope hold under strain while the water rose rapidly around the pilings.
Kevin, watch the line! The tide is coming faster than you think.
Steps back from the rising water, squinting through the rain to watch the tension on the cable.

Keep the angle steady! Don't let it drop on the rocks!
Clutches her notebook to her chest, watching the rope strain under the weight.

Angle's holding. Watch your feet — cable snaps back if it lets go.
