Night at the cottage
Kevin and Jenny are inside the keeper's cottage. The generator runs outside. Lantern light falls on the table where Jenny's notebook lies open to sea beet sketches. Kevin sits on the cot pulling off his boots. Jenny wraps the blanket tighter. The tide is low and the barometer still rising.
Kevin completes the Yanmar housing repair by fitting the bronze sleeve and torquing the bolt to 35Nm. Jenny attempts to sketch sea beet clusters in the notebook but struggles with the detail as the pressure continues to drop despite the dry season air.
You want the lantern on the shelf or by the bunk?

The Yanmar'll hold. Bronze sleeve's seated, bolt torqued to thirty-five. Only thing left is the sea trial.
dry hands on the towel and sit on the cot edge, rolling one shoulder

I hope so. The boat is coming in three days anyway.
Look down at the barometer, 997 hPa and still falling.
