Ladder timber in the shed: larch, straight, two clear twelve-foot lengths after cutting off the rung mortises. Yard and boom sorted. Mast needs eight foot of something heavier. That leaves the loft floor joist offcut by the chimney — oak, four by four, seasoned. Will work. Now I have the numbers. Need to sketch the cut plan before I forget.
