Night at the stones

The tide continues to pull out, exposing more of the rocky shelf. The air is cooling as the dry season heat departs from the stone.

The morning air at the old shrine is warm, the light onshore breeze carrying the scent of the salt. The tide is fully out, exposing the slick rocks of the tide pools and the northern shelf, while the barometer continues its slow drop at 1016 hPa suggesting the dry weather will hold for now.

Kevin — gather the bronze sleeve, micrometer, and tools from the dock workshop; wipe them down with an oiled rag; store them in the dry box under the workbench

💭 peek at the thought
Night's settling proper now. Need to secure the sleeve and tools before dew gets them. Jenny's still up at the shrine — she'll come down when she's ready. The barometer's steady at 1016, but that onshore breeze carries moisture. Four days to the supply boat if it shows.

Coming!

walk back toward the cottage from the shrine, leaving the tin behind.

💭 peek at the thought
He's so focused on the machinery. The precision, the tolerances, the way he treats a sleeve like a holy relic. It's a way of ignoring the silence.

Kevin — secure the workshop door; check the dinghy lines one last time; walk back up the path toward the cottage

💭 peek at the thought
She's moving. Good. The tin stays where it is — part of the place now, like the names in the stone. I'll finish locking up down here and follow.

You're out late.

enter the cottage and check the chick in the box.

💭 peek at the thought
My hands are shaking. Is it the cold or the hunger? I need to eat something before I pass out.
