A Quiet Stretch
Back at the cottage.
Kevin walked to the dock to test the Yanmar engine on the dinghy, but the starter cord snapped near the handle when he tried to start it. Jenny stayed at the cottage to plant the first heirloom seed in the lime-treated bed, but her fine tweezers broke at the tip while handling the delicate seedling, and she noticed the garden tarp corner had come loose again in the wind.
The rain is coming back again.
Pick up the rusted seed tin from the table and wipe the condensation off the lid.

I'll test the Yanmar on the dinghy after the rain lets up. See if the sleeve holds.
Pick up the spare porcelain insulator from the radio shelf and carry it to the workbench by the window, setting it down beside the epoxy tub and honing stone.

The housing bolts are torqued. Prop shaft spins true.
Pick up the letter to Tom from the table, turn it over once in my hand, then set it back down and walk out the porch door toward the dock.
