Rain lashing against the tarp
Kevin and Jenny stand under the porch roof watching the heavy rain lash the garden walls. Jenny is checking the tension on the plastic tarp over the seed tin while Kevin monitors the barometer.
The rain intensifies as the western front moves in, driving sheets horizontally under the cottage eaves. The wind has shifted to the north, threatening to lift the garden tarp, but the new lashing holds the seed tin secure for now.
The barometer is holding, but the wind is turning north. We'll lose the tarp if the gusts pick up.
Jenny reaches for the edge of the plastic tarp and pulls it tighter over the seed tin, securing the corner with a heavy stone.

North wind'll drive rain horizontal under the porch eaves too. Worth running a second line across the front if the gusts hit thirty.
walk to the porch front and check the existing tarp tie-offs, testing each knot for slack

I'll get the twine from the kitchen.
Jenny steps into the kitchen to find the spool of twine and her sketching pencil.

Spoon's on the shelf by the stove if you're making tea.
pull a length of sisal twine from the coil hanging by the door and start lashing a second line across the porch front, cinching it to the corner post

I'll Focus on the seeds first.
Jenny takes the twine and returns to the porch, her fingers tracing the rough texture of the fibers as she helps him secure the line.

Good hitch.
cinch my own line off on the far post, pull it taut with a half-hitch backup, then step back to check the tarp's run from end to end
