Low tide work and radio watch
Kevin stands at the dock mooring ring, drill in hand, having just torqued the third through-bolt. The ring is fast. Jenny approaches from the cottage path with the sealed letter to Tom, the tide beginning to turn. The shortwave sits on the porch table, scheduled for the noon check.
Kevin completed the noon shortwave check on Tom's frequency, hearing only static and a news report about a Panama earthquake, while Jenny inspected the lettuce seedlings and found additional damping-off spread. Both logged their observations before separating to their next tasks.
It looks solid. No more shifting?
Walk up to the edge of the jetty and hold out the sealed letter.

Fast. Doesn't shift under load.
take the letter from Jenny, tuck it into my oilskin pocket, and walk back toward the cottage for the noon shortwave check

I'll get the radio warmed up.
Walk back toward the cottage, following Kevin.

Right.
walk up the path to the cottage, peel off at the garden to check the seed trays for damping-off spread, cull any affected cells

I'll check the lettuce while you do the radio.
Stop at the garden wall and crouch over the seedling trays.

Kevin — continue to the cottage porch, power on the shortwave, tune to Tom's frequency, and run the noon scan

Jenny — carefully inspect each cell in the lettuce tray, looking for white fungal fuzz at the soil line.

Kevin — log the noon radio check in the notebook — static on Tom's frequency, barometer 1030 hPa steady — then walk down to the garden to check the pepper trays for damping-off
