The Rising Tide

The rain continues to fall hard as the tide begins its turn, pushing water back toward the northern shelves.

Kevin clears the silt from the spring intake mesh filter and checks the hose coupling for leaks. Meanwhile, back at the cottage, Jenny applies an antiseptic poultice to her swollen ankle, watching the overcast sky as the tide begins to creep up the dock.

Kevin — walk to the spring intake and check the hose run and mesh for silt buildup.

💭 peek at the thought
Tide's turning. Water's pushing back up the northern shelves — means the spring intake might get turbulent, more silt. Should check the hose run while I'm out here anyway. Mesh is already clogging from this rain.

Be careful on the slope, Kevin!

He's going to get soaked in that, and the rocks will be slick as glass now.

Always am.

Reach the spring intake, pull the mesh filter clear, and rinse it in the flow. Check the hose coupling where it meets the tank feed line.

💭 peek at the thought
She's watching from the porch. Ankle propped, sketchbook out — she's mapping salt glands while I'm wrestling hose in the mud. Good place for her. Bad place for me if I slip on this clay.

🌿 Jenny20:03

Check the seal on that fitting—the vibration from the pump was weird yesterday.

apply antiseptic poultice to ankle.

💭 peek at the thought
If that coupling holds, we're okay for water until the boat, but the pressure is dropping fast.
