The Storm Deepens
The flat sky has vanished behind a bruised purple wall of clouds. The first heavy drops of rain strike the tin roof, and the rising tide now laps at the lower edge of the dock.
The rain has intensified into a heavy, rhythmic drumming against the cottage roof as the wind lashes from the west. The air remains hot and humid, thick with the scent of ozone and wet earth, while the tide sits at its peak, waves lapping hungrily at the dock pilings.

Continue down the path to the dock, boots sinking into the softened ground, eyes on the dinghy dancing at its mooring.
