Afternoon at the cottage

Kevin and Jenny are back at the keeper's cottage. The sea beet is eaten, the pots washed. Kevin's hands are still cold. The generator sits on the porch, tarped. The Yanmar rests on the dinghy at the dock. The sky stays overcast, barometer steady. They have a few hours before the 2000 radio call.

Kevin carried the generator inside to protect it from damp, then sat with Jenny at the kitchen table while she pressed heirloom seed packets between paper towels to stabilize them. The barometer held steady at 999 hPa.
