The Storm Breaks

Kevin and Jenny are inside the cottage as the first heavy gust of wind hits the roof. The barometer continues to drop.

The rain lashes against the cottage from the west as the pressure continues to drop. Kevin spends the morning checking the dinghy engine on the stand while Jenny battles to sort the damp heirloom seeds on the kitchen table.

Reach to gather the damp seed packets from the table and place them under the heavy notebook.

grab the torch from the shelf, pull on my oilskin jacket, and step out onto the porch to check the rain tank overflow pipe at the back wall

Overflow pipe on the back wall. If it's blocked the tank backs up and we lose water or worse, the wall takes a beating. Need to check it now while I can still see.
