The storm breaks

The first heavy drops of rain hit the tin roof as the wind begins to howl through the eaves.

The air is heavy with humidity as the tide continues to retreat from the shore. Kevin prepares the radio to contact the supply boat while Jenny focuses on securing the garden against the dropping pressure.

She's inside checking the generator mount. That's the Yanmar — bolted to the porch floorboards with four M10s, but the vibration works them loose over time. I should've double-checked them yesterday. The aerial's the bigger worry: cracked insulator, old coax shot, only holding because I wrapped the insulator bridge with self-amalgamating tape last week. If the mast whips in this wind, the tape's the only thing keeping the whip on.
