Kevin is at the dock securing the crate, while Jenny remains at the cottage.

The midday heat is oppressive, pressing down on the island as the tide rises against the dock. The heavy wooden crate found earlier remains partially wedged in the rocks near the mooring line.

The air’s thick with moisture, and the seedlings are the first to show it. I’ve seen this before—white fuzz creeping up the stems, soft rot at the base. If it’s in the lettuce and pepper trays again, I’ll have to burn them before it jumps to the tomatoes. Jenny’s been careful with the seed trays, but this humidity’s winning. I should’ve moved the tarp sooner.

The lettuce and pepper seedlings are compromised—fuzzy white growth at the soil line, stems water-soaked. Two lettuce cells, one pepper. Same as yesterday. If I don’t act now, it’ll spread to the tray beside them. I’ve got the newspaper bag ready from last time. No point hesitating.
