Tarp securing and morning prep
Kevin re-stakes the garden tarp with oak stakes to prevent wind-lift in the 24°C heat. Jenny sits on the low stone wall wrapping a fresh mint poultice around her ankle while watching the barometer.
The morning sun is warm on the garden as the light onshore breeze carries the scent of the sea. The tide is out, exposing the slick rocks of the southern pools, while Kevin finishes securing the garden tarp against the shifting air. Jenny moves carefully, her ankle throbbing despite the improvement from the morning dressing and the cooling heat.
Glass holding. For now.

Don't over-tension the line, the wind needs to give or the stakes will pull.
Jenny tighten the gauze over the poultice, wincing as the fabric brushes the swollen skin.

Slack for the gusts. Got it.
ease each line a hand's breadth, re-hitch with a quick-release so she can adjust from the wall if the wind shifts

Check the seaward wall again; the salt spray is picking up.
Jenny leans back against the cool stone, watching the tarp ripple through the weeds.

Aye. Back before the turn.
walk toward the seaward garden wall, scanning the mortar joints and the base where the waves reach

Watch for the cracks in the lower course. The tide is higher than yesterday.
Jenny pulls the notebook from her lap, sketching the way the sea beet clings to the stone.
