High Tide Lull
Kevin returns the dinghy to the dock while Jenny begins the trek toward the cottage.
Kevin attempted to torque the starboard stringer bolts but the high tide and falling barometer made the dock unstable; he abandoned the work as a squall hit. Jenny sketched the north ridge soil transition but her fever and ankle pain forced her to stop and seek shelter as the rain began.
You wipe the grease from your hands and check the engine log for any vibration patterns.
Kevin — wipe hands on rag, close engine log, kill the Yanmar and secure the dinghy to the dock

Kevin — step from dinghy to dock, grab the 19mm wrench and the stainless shim stock from the workbench, walk to the starboard gunwale to sight the mast step

You lean against a rock face, watching the tide cover the lower tide pools.
Stay still.
Sketch the cross-section of the ridge soil, noting the transition from organic matter to clay-heavy silt.

Jenny — wipe sweat from my brow with a sleeve and check the moisture on the ankle wrap.
