Dawn watch and first light on the south slope
First light bleeds grey across the wet season sky. Kevin comes in from the radio shack, stiff and cold, to find Jenny already at the porch rail with her cane and notebook, watching the high tide lap the lower garden shelves. The barometer reads 1018 hPa and still falling. The supply boat is due in three days at high tide.
Kevin and Jenny spend the night in the cottage as the humidity rises under an overcast sky. Kevin prepares for the morning's drainage work while Jenny monitors her ankle, which remains throbbing in the heavy heat.
Tide's high. Barometer's 1018 and dropping. Three days.

North wall weep'll widen if the current keeps pushing. Need to check the sister plates before the boat comes.
pour coffee into the tin mug and carry it to the porch rail

Check the bolts first. The greenheart might be weeping.

Tank's full. Bolts first, then the plates. I'll take the wheelbarrow down at slack.
sip coffee and watch the tide line on the garden wall
