The Heavy Air
The air remains still as the pressure continues to drop slightly on the barometer. The supply boat is still nine days away.
Kevin retrieved epoxy from the workshop shed while Jenny began sketching the corroded seed tin. The barometer continued rising as warm rain fell intermittently, and a new driftwood tangle washed onto the south beach.
Tin's not going to hold another week. Humidity's already through the seam.

I'll use the epoxy and the tape. I need a dry surface first.

Ankle's too swollen for the walk. I'll get the epoxy from the shed - you stay here with the tin.
walk to the workshop shed, open the epoxy tub, take what's needed, and return to cottage

Jenny pulls her notebook from her lap and starts sketching the corrosion patterns on the tin's edge.
