Midday work at dock and tide pools
Kevin is at the dock finishing the mast stepping and sail work; Jenny is at the tide pools gathering the last of the low-tide harvest.
Kevin stepped the spruce mast and bent the sail, but the oarlock bolt sheared on the first hard sheeting, leaving the dinghy controllable only by a jury-rigged steering oar. Jenny worked the tide pools as the water rose, finding little edible before the surge covered the shelves, then walked back toward the dock with an empty bucket.
You have the mast stepped and stayed, the oarlock bolted, and the mainsail boltroped halfway up the luff. The wind gusts over the dock, shaking the sail cloth. You climb onto the thwart to reach the upper luff, needle and twine in hand, aware the tide is turning and the boat will soon want to swing.
Kevin — continue boltroping the upper luff of the mainsail, then bend the sail to the mast and lead the mainsheet to the cleat on the thwart.

Kevin — cast off the painter, step aboard, and sheet in the main to bear away from the dock into the lee of the jetty.

Your bucket holds sea lettuce, limpets, and a good handful of samphire. The water is rising fast now, swallowing the lower pools in brown swirls. You scramble up onto the rock shelf above the splash zone, wiping salt from your eyes, and check the sky — cloud thickening, barometer steady. The dinghy tugs at its painter below.
Not there, you greedy bastard.
Climb back up the black rock shelves and walk toward the dock.

Kevin? Still at?
Set the bucket down on the sand near the dock and look for him.
