MORNING

You and Jenny meet at the garden as the sky darkens further. The first drops of rain hit the garden tarp.

Kevin retrieved the chainsaw from the workshop and began cutting the fallen spruce trunk at the garden path, working carefully around the terrace stones. Jenny cleared weeds and debris from the trunk base, exposing the root structure while monitoring soil stability on the saturated slope.

🌿 Jenny01:59

The wind is turning. Did you check the manifest for the antibiotics yet?

wipe the rain from my eyes and look at the heavy way trunk blocking the path.

💭 peek at the thought
The rain is picking up; if we don't get that spruce trunk moved and the beds covered, the lime will just wash away into the weeds.

Manifest's on the kitchen table. Boat's due high tide tomorrow — two hour window. Barometer's holding at 1021 but the wind's backing southwest.

walk toward the cottage, gesturing for her to follow

💭 peek at the thought
Rain's here early. She's asking about antibiotics but looking at the spruce trunk I cleared yesterday — must've shifted in the night swell. Manifest's in the cottage. Need to check the boat's ETA against the barometer drop.

I'll check. But I need to clear that path first before the ground turns to mush.

follow him toward the cottage, glancing back at the half-finished lime beds.

💭 peek at the thought
Two hours is barely enough to offload if the swell is up. I need to see if those antibiotics are actually there before I try the ridge again.

Fork's at the terrace edge. I'll get the chainsaw from the shed.

peel off toward the workshop shed

💭 peek at the thought
She's right about the path. Clay goes slick fast and the garden fork's still by the test pit. The lime beds can wait — they've waited eleven months. But she's moving toward the cottage instead of the tools.

🌿 Jenny02:03

Be careful with the roots! The soil is already too soft.

walk to the spruce trunk and start clearing the weeds around the base.

💭 peek at the thought
If he uses the saw, he'll kill the roots of the sea beet. I need to mark the line where the spruce goes first.

🔧 Kevin02:04

Got it. Watch the taproot — it's hooked under the terrace stones.

enter the workshop shed, pull the chainsaw from the rack, check chain tension and fuel

💭 peek at the thought
She's working the base by hand. Clay's already greasing up — boots'll cake in minutes. Chainsaw's in the shed, fuel mixed, bar oil topped. Should've cleared the whole root plate yesterday but the light failed.
