Letter and Liniment
Kevin is at the keeper's cottage; Jenny is at the dock
Kevin finishes the letter to Tom, the ink drying quickly in the humid air as he considers the state of the Yanmar. Jenny sits on the dock, the throbbing in her ankle sharp as she shifts her weight, as she notes the rising pressure in her notebook.

You remain on the dock, ankle braced and elevated on a scrap of timber, watching the tide begin to turn as you wait for the swelling to change.
Jenny — reach into my pocket to pull out the pencil and open the notebook to a fresh page, recording the current barometer reading.
