Afternoon work at dock and garden
Kevin is at the dock testing the Yanmar after carburetor cleaning; Jenny is at the garden checking seed trays and tending seedlings.
Kevin ran the dinghy engine through its paces and found a faint vibration above half throttle, then secured the boat with doubled spring lines against the coming weather. Jenny spread the heirloom seed packets to dry at the kitchen table and found the tin's contents still viable despite dampness.
You lower the dinghy into the water and start the Yanmar — it catches on the second pull and settles into a steadier idle. You engage forward gear and ease the throttle up, feeling for the vibration that showed above half throttle last time. The prop shaft spins true, the bronze sleeve holding.
Kevin — run the dinghy engine at increasing throttle, checking for vibration, then bring it back to idle and kill the ignition

Kevin — kill the engine, secure the dinghy to the dock with bow and stern lines, double the spring lines against the coming weather, and walk back to the cottage

You kneel beside the seed trays under the shade cloth, examining each cell. The tomato and basil seedlings stand straight with true leaves; three pepper and four lettuce cells show the white fuzz of damping-off at the soil line. You lift the affected cells carefully, bag them for burning, and dust the remaining soil with a pinch of lime.
Not today, not like this.
Jenny stands up slowly, wincing at her ankle, and walks toward the cottage to check the seed tin.

Jenny — jenny sits at the kitchen table, opens the tin of seeds, and begins to spread the damp packets onto a dry sheet of paper.
