The Storm Approaches
The wind picks up from the east, and the first heavy drops fall. Kevin and Jenny must decide how to secure the cottage before the weather truly breaks.
The steady rain continues into midday, drumming rhythm against the cottage roof. The tide has fallen further since the morning, exposing more of the island's rocky fringes. Kevin has moved to the generator shed, struggling against the rising wind to lash down the tarps, while Jenny remains on the porch, managing the throbbing in her ankle and watching the barometer needle for its slow, ominous drop.
Shutters first. You stay on the porch — radio watch, log the pressure every fifteen minutes. I'll batten the west side and the generator shed.
Grab the greenheart planks, tarred canvas, and batten strips from the workshop. Move to the west shutter and start securing it with the through-bolts staged at the east shutter.

I'll check the barometer and prep the poultice, but if that pressure hits ninety, we're moving the seeds inside.
Limps to the porch, grips the doorframe for support, and watches the needle on the barometer fall.

Copy. Seeds come in at ninety. I've got the west shutter — moving to the generator shed next.
Drive the first 150mm stainless through-bolt through the greenheart sister plank into the shutter joist, washer and nyloc nut on the inside. Work fast — wind's rising.

Watch the tide! The wind is shifting to the northeast!
Sits on the porch step, wincing as the weight hits her swollen ankle, and begins crushing the sea beet leaves for the poultice.
