Kevin is at the dock while Jenny returns from the north cliffs.

Kevin works at the dock, chiseling out rotted wood from the mooring ring mortise to prevent the crack from spreading. Jenny descends the north cliffs, tucking her morphology notebook into a waterproof bag to protect it from the warm rain.

The water is at its lowest point, revealing the tide pools. You notice a crack in the wood near the main mooring.

Kevin — drill a 3mm stop hole at the end of the crack with the hand brace and bit from the tool roll.

The crack runs with the grain, near the bolt—probably started when the ring shifted. If it spreads, the mooring could tear out in a blow. Need to stop it before I ream the holes.

Kevin — chisel out rotted wood and debris from the mortise with the cold chisel and mallet, working from the top down to avoid splitting the dock further.
